Bucks' draft leans into youth again with Tyler Smith: 'We're looking at the long play'
Following the selection of AJ Johnson with the No. 23 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Milwaukee Bucks general manager spoke with reporters for 20 minutes. Horst discussed the strengths and weaknesses of the organization’s newest player, the process that went into making that selection and Johnson’s future. Horst revealed that the Bucks have a focus on winning and always have an eye on moving forward. On Thursday, the Bucks selected Tyler Smith with the No. 33 pick. Smith, a 19-year-old forward, played for the G League Ignite last season and put up solid numbers. Bucks assistant general manager stated that the team is not expecting Smith to contribute significantly next season as they are looking at the long play. The Bucks’ draft picks have been viewed as an opportunity to add young talent to their roster. The team still has openings in their rotation and will need to find contributors in free agency. The pressure is on for Horst and the front office to find players who can contribute next season.
